Wanda (Wandalene) Owens was born October 18, 1935 to Tom and Rosa (King) Head in Caradan, Mills County, Texas. She graduated from Star High School in 1954. Soon after graduation she married John Owens, the love of her life on May 29, 1954.
John and Wanda began their life together moving to San Antonio, Texas, where John served in the Air Force. Following his service they moved to College Station, Texas. While he pursued a degree in electrical engineering from A&M, she was a stay at home mom of two small boys (Randy and Kevin). They moved to River Oaks, Texas in 1962 where John began his long career with General Dynamics aka Lockheed Martin, and they welcomed their daughter, Rosamarie. In 1964 they built their one and only home in Benbrook, Texas where they welcomed their final child, Darin. Wanda worked primarily as a housewife, and mother raising her 4 children in a home filled with faith and love. She and John were life long members of Benbrook United Methodist Church, where they worshiped, served, and were members of the choir.
In the early 1970’s she pursued and received her cosmetology license. She worked, and served her community in local salons (Cut-N-Curl, and Lakeside) for almost 40 years garnering a loyal list of clients, and friendships she cherished. She loved her family and grandchildren with all her heart. Her day was counted all joy when her house was filled with the sound of all of them sharing a meal and time together. She is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Rosa Head, sister Ruby Nell, husband, John, and son Darin. She is survived by her siblings, Darrell, Doyle, and Merlene, her children, Randy Owens, and wife Maxine, Kevin Owens, and wife Cheryl, and Rosamarie Hatch and husband Tim, eleven grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
