Wanda Wright Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hilliard Funeral Home, Fairway Crematory & Memorial Gardens - Van on Aug. 16, 2024.
Wanda Joyce Martin Wright, of Mineola, Texas, left this earth and went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. She was born in Hawkins, Texas, on March 28, 1941, to Claud and Ella (Newman) Martin. The fifth of seven children, she grew up in the Redland community. Wanda had many fond memories of her early years attending school and graduating from Hawkins High School as a member of the class of 1960, afterward moving to Dallas to work in the art department for Bell Telephone Company. Her young adult years took her to Oregon and again to Texas, raising a family in Greenville, then Tyler, and coming back full circle to her hometown roots of Hawkins in the 1980's.
Wanda enjoyed spending time with her family, doting on her grandchildren, crafting, drawing, community theater, reading, and studying the Bible. She was strong in her faith and loved sharing stories about Jesus and His faithfulness.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by four of her brothers: Leon Martin, Preston Martin, Philip Martin, and Chuck Martin, as well as by an infant grandson, Brad Austin Wright.
Wanda is survived by her three sons and their wives: Patrick and Angie Moore of Mineola; John and Tonya Wright of Hawkins, and Todd and Stephanie Wright of Hawkins. She is also survived by her sister, Patsy Michna of Denver, Colorado; her brother, Michael Martin and wife, Desiree, of Willow Park, Texas, and her sister-in-law Daisy Martin, of Garland, Texas. She was a loving and devoted grandmother to 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed by her family, her friends, and her wonderful caregivers. Everyone that met Wanda was drawn to her kindness and sense of humor. She will be remembered with love for her funny stories, her laughter, and her dedication to the Lord.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Sand Springs Baptist Church in Mineola, TX. Visitation will begin at 10 am with a memorial service beginning at 11 am.
The family thanks everyone for the outpouring of love and prayers during this time.
