My deepest condolences and prayers to the Cheatham family for your loss. Our country/community/church has lost an admirable citizen, physician, military service member, HBCU supporter, family man, and child of God. Praying for your comfort. - Johari Rashad, Ph.D.

What a pleasure and privilege it was for me to cross paths with Wayman in the world of diabetes care and research on so many occasions. He had a remarkable life and career. I will remember his calm and caring way and how he succeeded in championing the cause of all people with diabetes. He also promoted research to develop better treatment options for those living with or at risk of diabetes, including minorities and the underserved. My thoughts are with his wife and family. Wayman will live on in our memories and in the further evolution of diabetes treatment. He will be missed.
