Wayne Allison Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Arner Funeral Chapel - Chester on Nov. 11, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Wayne R. Allison, who peacefully left us on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the age of 86, surrounded by his devoted family at Heritage Valley Beaver.
A lifelong resident of Hookstown, Wayne's quiet strength and wisdom were a guiding light to all who knew him. Born in East Liverpool on March 10, 1939, he was the cherished son of the late Roy and Anna (Tate) Allison.
Wayne's life was rooted in the land. Growing up on a farm instilled in him an unshakable work ethic that defined his years. Even after his long career as a craneman in the Tin Mill at J & L Steel in Aliquippa, he continued to pour his heart into the fields, plowing, baling hay, and tending a magnificent garden that provided fresh bounty for his loved ones. He took immense pride in this gift to his family. A man of principle, Wayne was often the voice of reason and guidance for his family-straightforward, wise, and kind. He found simple, deep joy in his lifelong passion for Farmall tractors, spending countless hours restoring, tinkering, and proudly displaying his antique equipment at the annual Beaver Valley Antique Equipment and Craft Association show, where he was a long-time member. Every Memorial Day, the community could count on seeing him, waving from the seat of one of his prized tractors in the Hookstown Memorial Day Parade. His dedication to preservation extended to his role as a founding member of the South Side Historic Village Association, helping to move and restore the historic buildings. He also possessed a lifelong sweet tooth that brought a smile to his face, and he was especially fond of anything peanut butter and a comforting slice of homemade cherry pie. Above all, his heart belonged to his wife, Delores. For 65 beautiful years, they built a life together, finding their greatest happiness in simple moments, like "porch sitting" side-by-side.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Delores (Szatkowski) Allison; and his legacy of love will live on through his children: John Allison; Charlotte (Allison) and Ethan Spece; Lisa (Allison) and Steve Sibbio; Harry and Lesley (McMahan) Allison; and Jerome and Jessica (Neaman) Allison. He was a proud and loving PaPa to Leah (Sibbio) and JD Blue; Brandon Trefelner and Meghan Semler; Alexis (Sibbio) and Damian Sherrill; Kathleen Delores Sibbio; Abigail Spece and Tyler Humphries; Ava Allison; and Eli Allison. He is also survived by his loving sister, Joan (Allison) Foody of Hookstown, and many dear nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his sisters, Carol (Allison) and James Floyd and Frances "Franny" (Allison) Torrence.
Service Information Family and friends will be received at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester, WV, on Friday, November 14, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 5:00–7:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 6:45 p.m. A Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in his honor at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, November 15, at 10:00 a.m. Following the service, Wayne will be laid to rest at Millcreek Hill Cemetery.
