Farmington – Wayne Edward Blumenberg passed away January 8, 2026, at Parkland Health Center in Farmington at the age of 83. He was born March 19, 1942, in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, the son of the late Wilmer “Rip” Blumenberg and Dorothy L. (Resinger) Blumenberg.
Wayne was a graduate of Farmington High School, the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy, and Iowa State University, where he earned his master’s degree. In 1960, he married Dorothy Tawfall at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
He was a computer expert for Monsanto Corporation, where he retired after 30 years of employment. Wayne was an active member of the Lutheran Church, serving at various times as an elder and member of the finance committee. For thirteen years, he coached ice hockey in Trenton, Michigan, and Chesterfield, Missouri, at the club and high school level. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and loved the game of baseball.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy, he is survived by five children: Teresa (James) Love, Lori Clayton, Brian (Deborah), Darla Welch, and Kyle (Kim). There are ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. He also has two sisters, Jan (Phillip) Harrison of Columbia, Missouri, and Denise Nicholson of LaMonte, Missouri, and nine nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Monday, January 12, 2026, beginning at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Schmitt officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Farmington. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Wayne’s name to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 609 East Columbia, Farmington, MO 63640.
