Wayne Farmer Obituary
Born in Detroit, Michigan, a son of the late Claude and Julia (Michel) Farmer, he was raised in Troy, Michigan. He later moved to Lincoln, Rhode Island, where he got married, raised a family, and resided for most of his life.
Mr. Farmer was a talented tool & die maker, working for Texas Instruments, prior to opening his own machining business, Enway Co., in Providence and Pawtucket. He operated them for many years before retiring. Wayne was dedicated to his craft, and continued to share his knowledge and expertise with aspiring craftsmen by teaching classes at New England Tech for several years.
He enjoyed music, and played guitar in a local band. A proud U.S. Navy veteran, he served honorably as an aviation structural mechanic with Fighter Squadron 84. Above all, he was a devoted father and grandpa, creating cherished memories with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters, Tammy Leclerc of Lincoln, and Sherry Powell of North Providence; two sons, Michael Farmer of Attleboro, Massachusetts, and John Farmer of North Smithfield; one brother, Claude Farmer, Jr. of Sterling Heights, Michigan; nine grandchildren; one great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 10:00 AM in Saint Jude Church, 301 Front Street, Lincoln. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Cumberland, will be private.
