LIMA -- Wayne D. Fish, 74 of Lima, passed away February 10, 2026, at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center. Wayne was born September 9, 1951, in Bluffton, to Betty (Blosser) Wolf, and she and his step-father, Gene Wolf, raised him. His mother preceded him in death, and his step-father survives him. May 24, 2000, he married Leah Ann (Boatman) Fish, who survives him in Lima.
Wayne was a 1969 graduate of Lima Senior High School, and he worked at Ford Motor Company for over 30 years until his retirement. Wayne loved being outside; he enjoyed hunting and he was an avid fisherman. He always enjoyed a good bourbon or craft beer, and he had a deep passion for Blues and Rock and Roll music. Wayne was a talented musician, playing bass guitar and singing in bands in his younger years. He enjoyed watching sports, and he was a proud Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns fan.
His tough exterior often gave way to his softer side, and he was an all-around good man. Wayne was a man of few words, but when he spoke, people knew to listen. He fiercely loved his family, especially his loving and devoted wife, and he will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In addition to his wife, Wayne is survived by his sons, Tod Wayne (Alice) Fish and Matthew Lee (Emilee) Fish; daughter, Sara (Kenny) Barnett; step-son, Joseph (Tina) Tschuor; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Rebecca (Jonah) Cox and Bernadine Ludwig and many nieces and nephews and a robust extended family.
In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his son, Aaron Dean Fish and his sister, Susan "Susie" Hoffer.
Wayne's family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to the staff at St. Rita's Medical Center for their kind, compassionate care. A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel.
