Wayne William Kellum

Wayne William Kellum, 83, of Lecompton, KS, died Friday, November 28, 2025 at his home after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Wayne was born February 22, 1942, at Burlington, KS, the son of Clarence William "Bud" and Laura Opal (Crouch) Kellum. He was a 1960 graduate of Lecompton High School and attended Butler County Community College. Wayne retired in 1997 after serving 25 years as Douglas County Zoning Administrator. He had formerly worked for the Kansas State Health Department.

Wayne served six years in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a life member of Lecompton Historical Society. He enjoyed his family and many activities including hunting with his Walker hounds.

Wayne married Blossom Ann "Bobbi" Hunsinger, his wife of 59 years, on November 19, 1966 at Stull, KS, she survives at home. He is also survived by a son, David Wayne (Penny) Kellum, Lecompton, a daughter, Kimberly Ann (Mike) Stieben, Overbrook, one brother, Kenneth Scott (Helena) Kellum, Lecompton, one sister, Karen Sue (Richard) Ice, Lawrence and two grandchildren, Michael Kellum and Haley Kellum. He was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Lee "Buddy" Kellum.

A Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday, December 5, 2025 at the Lecompton United Methodist Church with A Memorial Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 6, 2025 at the Church.

Cremation Care is planned. Inurnment will be at later date at Maple Grove Cemetery, Lecompton. Memorials suggested to Lecompton Historical Society or, Douglas County Visiting Nurses or Interim Hospice or to The Parkinson's Foundation. Barnett Family Funeral Home/Jefferson County Crematory, Oskaloosa is assisting the family.
