METROPOLIS, Ill. - Wayne "Hillbilly" Krueger, 79 of Metropolis, Illinois, passed away at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025, at the Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with a graveside service with military rites immediately following at the Metropolis Memorial Gardens with David Krueger officiating.
Wayne was a veteran of the United States Army, a member of the American Legion Post 306, retired from Honeywell, and a diehard Cubs fan.
Wayne is survived by his children, Rachael Krueger (Tamara), Sheila Krueger Goines, Brian Krueger (Kristen), and Justin Krueger (Meaghan); 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Sandra Hazel and Annie Jackson; brothers, David Krueger (Treila), John Krueger (Marsha), and Tony Kruger (Reda); and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Walter and Lois (Verbarg) Krueger; son, Carl Russell "Rusty" Krueger.
Pallbearers will be Jason Krueger, John Krueger, Tony Krueger, Jared Krueger, Mike McKee, and Jim Myrick.
