Wayne McQuait Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 4, 2012.
Wayne V. McQuait, 79, of 335 Fairmount Ave. Waynesboro, PA, died at 3:30 P.M. on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 in his home. Born March 22, 1933 in Hustontown, PA, he was the second son, amongst 16 children to be born to the late Emory V. and Mary T. (Wood) McQuait. He and his wife, Frances (Shindledecker) McQuait were married in 1987. Wayne loved Waynesboro and spent most of his life here. Often saying, "It feels like his home". Wayne retired in 1995 from his work as an Automobile Detailer. He worked for several car dealerships; including, Lynn Chevrolet, Brake Pontiac, Snowberger Oldsmobile, and Dean Hebb's. He was a member of Otterbein Church, Waynesboro. He was a hobbyist, enjoying tinkering with things, whether it was a lawn mower, a weed whacker, or something else, he often found new uses for everyday objects. One of his greatest joys came from spending time with his grandkids. He was a jolly man with just the right amount of ornery to make him loveable! In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother-in-law, Evelyn Shindledecker, Waynesboro; four children: Edward McQuait (Karen), Shady Grove, PA, Lisa Creager (Russell), Waynesboro, PA, James McQuait, and Donald McQuait, both of DeFuniak Springs, FL; four step-children: Kathy Shaffer (Scott), Theresa Dunn (Brian Starliper), Tommy Dunn (Laura), all of Waynesboro and Randy Dunn, Detroit, MI; one brother, Max McQuait, Hustontown, PA; four sisters: Shirley Ramsey, Hustontown, Norma Jean Barnett, Waterfalls, PA, Mariam Barner, Springrun, PA and Dorothy Burgan, Chambersburg, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, September 10, 2012 at Otterbein Church, 801 Park St. Waynesboro, with Pastor John C. Hoffman officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the services in the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lutheran Home Care & Hospice, Inc. 2700 Luther Dr. Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to the Otterbein Church. Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. On-line condolences may be expressed at bowersoxfuneralhomes.com
