Wayne K. Meier, 90, of Alda, Neb., died on Monday, July 28, 2025.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wood River, Neb., with Reverend Jorge Canela celebrating. Burial will follow in the Alda Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Church, concluding with a rosary at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Wayne was born on January 28, 1935, in Petersburg, Neb., to Carl and Catherine (Schalk) Meier, Sr. He grew up in Petersburg and was united in marriage to Sharon Denman on April 25, 1959, in Grand Island at St. Mary's Cathedral. Wayne and Sharon moved to Alda after marriage where Wayne worked on coin operated machines. He later started Lakeside Service in 1989.

Wayne served in the United States Air Force from 1953-1956 where he was stationed in the United States and the Philippines. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a life member of Knights of Columbus, American Legion, VFW, and DAV. Wayne helped organize Scout Troop 216 in Petersburg, Neb., as a young boy.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Sharon; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Marta Meier of Phillips, Neb.; daughter, Michelle Meier of Geneva, Neb.; grandsons, Derrek (Brittany) Meier and Adam (Mindy) Meier; granddaughter, Malorie Meier; great-grandsons, Brady, Alex, Hunter, Cooper, Steele, Jett, and Kruz Meier; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Catherine Meier, Sr.; brother, Carl Meier, Jr. and his wife, Loretta; and daughter, Barbara Meier Zulkoski.
