Sibley, Iowa

Wayne D. Moet age 95, of Sibley, IA, died Friday, July 25, 2025, at the Osceola Senior Living Center, in Sibley.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, with the family present at Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley, IA.

A Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Friday, August 1, 2025 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley, IA, with Rev. Timothy Nappe officiating.

Burial will follow at Holman Township Cemetery of Sibley, with military honors by George E. Mudge American Legion Post No. 324, William F. Allard VFW Post No. 7373, and U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.

Wayne Dale Moet was born on November 15, 1929, in Sibley, Iowa to John and Anna (DeBerg) Moet. He grew up on the family farm near Sibley with two brothers and three sisters. He married Esther Helmers on June 8, 1952, at Camp Gordon, Georgia. They lived and farmed near Allendorf, Iowa, raising six children. Wayne was an army veteran and his service to the community included being a board or council member in several capacities for organizations such as Trinity Lutheran Church, Allendorf Elevator, ASCS, and Osceola Community Hospital.

He is survived by his children Ruth Moet of LaVista, Nebraska; Paul Moet (Vern Becker) of The Woodlands, Texas; Dona Ellerbroek of Ocheyedan, Iowa; Lisa Moet (Lionel Brown) of Castle Rock, Colorado; Mary Junkin of Yellville, Arkansas; Gary (Amy) Moet of Cave Creek, Arizona; grandchildren Jennifer (Jeff Goodman) of Ashland, Nebraska; Tim Ellerbroek (Dora DeGroot) of Roswell, New Mexico; and Michael Bachtel (Jordan Kent) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Jim (Angie) Ellerbroek of Littleton, Colorado; great grandchildren, Jackson and Sydney Goodman and Reece Ellerbroek; sisters, Verna Zylstra of Sheldon, Iowa and Mary Jacobson of Camarillo, California; and many other loving family members including several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Esther, his parents, brothers Ray and Roger, sister Margaret Muilenberg, son-in-law Dana Junkin, and many other family members, friends, and loved ones.
