Wayne Nelson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home and Cemetery on Jan. 14, 2026.
Graveside services for Mr. Wayne Nelson, 64, of Anniston, will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 12:00 PM at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Homer Longoria will be officiating the service. Wayne will be laid to rest immediately following the service.
Wayne, a loving husband, father, and PawPaw, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
Although his death was untimely, he will always be remembered as a charismatic, funny, and loving man.
Wayne was always happiest on a boat fishing in a lake, making jokes with those he loved, and repairing anything and everything. He always had a smile on his face and there was never a day where he let anything, big or small, dampen his spirit.
Those left to cherish the memory of Wayne include his wife, Julie Nelson; his daughters, Lesley Looney and Amber Abdalla (Tarek); his stepchildren, William Taylor, Trinity Taylor, Angela Tidwell, and Joseph Taylor (Jerica); his siblings, Pam Nelson and Mike Nelson (Sonia); his grandchildren, Dylan Looney (Kali) and Cameron Anders (Caleb); a bundle of step grandchildren, nine to be exact; and his fur baby, Xena.
Those preceding Wayne in death was his father, R.B. Nelson; his mother, Delma Nelson; and his brother, Billy Nelson.
Wayne leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unforgettable moments. While he may no longer walk beside us, his spirit, which was full of humor, heart, and the occasional fishing tale, will remain with us always. Wayne will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
