Wayne L. Palo, age 68, of Hayti, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025. A lifelong mechanic, Wayne spent his days at Palo's Garage, fixing anything that came through the door and chatting with friends and neighbors who stopped by.
Wayne is survived by his son, Rodney Palo, daughter-in-law, Sophia Palo, and his beloved granddaughter, Penelope Palo, with whom he shared countless movie and game nights with. He is also survived by his siblings: Mary (Jim) Krueger of Hartford, SD; Steve Palo of Hayti, SD; Roger (Lisa) Palo of Madison, SD; and Donna Struckman of Hayti, SD; and by his special friend, Deb Palo of Watertown, SD.
He is preceded in death by his brother, David and his parents.
He was a proud member of the Hayti volunteer fire department and served on the town board. Wayne found joy in fishing, riding his motorcycle, snowmobiling, camping, and especially in his weekly "grandparents' night" at Rodney and Sophia's home. He cherished time with family and was always ready to lend a hand with a project or simply enjoy each other's company.
Wayne will be fondly remembered by his many special friends who enriched his life and shared in his adventures.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
