He was born on September 9, 1950, in Mandan, North Dakota, to his loving parents, Ted and Pauline (Ferderer) Ressler. Wayne attended Christ the King School, in Mandan. As a young man, Wayne found his second home and long-term residence at a Pride Group home, where he spent over 40 years. The other residents and staff became an extended family to Wayne. In August of 2023, he moved to Missouri Slope, where he once again embraced and connected with the staff, forming meaningful relationships.
One of Wayne's favorite pastimes was bowling, which he discovered during his family's frequent visits to the Ten Spot bowling alley, a family owned business. Throughout his life, he continued to nurture his love for bowling, enjoying many outings with Pride. Additionally, Wayne found joy in fishing and cherished his annual trips to Lake Metigoshe.
Wayne's siblings played an important role in his life, ensuring his happiness and well-being. Mary, his sister, devoted significant time to Wayne, frequently sharing lunch outings with him. Paula, his other sister, made countless trips from South Dakota to spend quality time with Wayne. And every Wednesday, Wayne eagerly anticipated spending time with his brother, Mike, as they shared Dilly bars, listened to Johnny Cash, and enjoyed watching sports together. Wayne's family showered him with love and affection, creating cherished memories that will live on in their hearts.
Wayne will be forever remembered by his sister, Mary (Jerry) Bernhardt of Blaine, Minnesota, and his brother, Mike (Kathy) Ressler of Bismarck. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Bill Thovson of Watertown, South Dakota, as well as his nieces and nephews, Shay (Ted) Howard, Kyle (Jessie) Bernhardt, Alicia (Ray) Paz, Ariana Thovson, Brandon (Ali) Ressler, Ryan (Megan) Ressler, and Troy Ressler.
