Wayne Kurt Rutter, age 77 years, died Thursday, May 8, 2025 at the Hunterdon Developmental Center in Clinton NJ where he has lived for many years.
Born September 25, 1947 in Jersey City NJ, Wayne was the son of the late Kurt and Helen (Sarych) Rutter. For much of his life, Wayne lived at the Hunterdon Developmental Center (HDC) and enjoyed listening to music, especially Big Band selections. He was known to drink a large cup of coffee more quickly than anyone, play his harmonica or train whistle, spend time rocking in his glider, or enjoying a meal while visiting with his family during the holidays or at a favorite restaurant. For many years, he enjoyed working in the greenhouse at HDC.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his brother, Warren Rutter in 2006 and his step-mother, Marjorie (Muller) Rutter in 2008. He is survived by his brother, Jeff Rutter of Cookeville TN, his sisters and brothers-in-law, Doreen and John Bassett of Northampton PA, Marjorie and Michael Bonham of Baker FL, and Linda and John Villano of Cookeville TN and several nieces and nephews.
Private services and burial with his brother, Warren, will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Oak Ridge NJ. There are no calling hours.
