Wayne Allen Sharp
April 15th, 1957-February 28th, 2025
Wayne Allen Sharp died at the age of 67 on February 28th, 2025 at his home in Batavia, IL. Wayne was born in Chicago on April 15th, 1957 to Richard and Mary Sharp. After a brief residence in Chicago, IL, the Sharp family headed west and Wayne became a resident of the Fox Valley area.
Wayne graduated from Geneva High School in 1975. He was always looking forward to his next high school reunion and would have been celebrating his 50th reunion this year. His sons grew up in Batavia and while he never gave up his love for his Geneva Vikings, he would often be found at Friday night football games watching them or the Batavia Bulldogs play. He would follow them to away games and even to state championships on more than one occasion.
Wayne grew up working alongside his father as a carpenter and stayed in the trades, eventually starting his own roofing company. He followed in his father's footsteps and enjoyed bringing his boys to work when they were old enough. Like his father before him, he passed along many great skills to them. He was proud of his boys, taught them to work hard, efficient, and made the arduous work of roofing fun. He paid them well and also taught them the importance of saving money. He was a present father and rarely ever missed a game or event.
Wayne loved to stay busy and had many hobbies. Growing up, he played hockey and ran track. He was an avid skier and spent time on the ski patrol. He loved to roller skate and could be found at many different rinks around the area and would even travel to Wisconsin. He loved to golf and rarely missed his Wednesday night golf league. He was involved in a pool league and loved skeet and trap shooting. He got his boys involved in riding dirtbikes and four wheelers. They got to enjoy growing up on almost 5 acres and had a track, where they would ride with their neighborhood friends. He loved racing and even had a brief stint racing cars at Sycamore Speedway.
Wayne loved to help people. He always seemed to have advice, no matter the situation. He put his love for helping people to good use and volunteered working for a suicide prevention hotline, where he helped countless people overcome very difficult circumstances and try and find the joy in life.
Wayne loved his family and his friends. He touched many people and he will forever live on in our hearts and memories.
Wayne is preceded in death by his father Richard "Dick" Sharp and his mother Mary Sharp. Wayne is survived by his cherished children, Andrew Sharp (Kim), Bryan Sharp, Clayton Sharp, and David Sharp; and beloved siblings, Richard "Rick" Sharp Jr., Sharon Johnson (Bernie), Mark Sharp (Annette), Mary Kay Koehler, Michelle Farwell, Jane Gaffney (Kevin), and Robert "Bob" Sharp (Karen); and 2 grandchildren, Ethan Sharp and Audrey Sharp.
Please join us celebrating his life Friday morning, March 28, 2025. A visitation will begin at 10:00 am and a service will begin at 11:00 am at DuPage Funeral Chapel (951 W. Washington Street, West Chicago).

Wayne was a great neighbor and friend. He helped me install an overhead garage door by telling what I was doing wrong. He was my skiing buddy. He taught me the correct way to use my poles and motivated me into some great carving turns.
Rest in peace.......

Wayne was a great, close friend for many years, from grade school into early adult years. We had a lot of good times together, playing pool, ping pong, shooting baskets, working on his car, riding bikes and climbing trees. Our distance running group was very close in high school cross country and track. My deepest sympathy to his loved ones.

Wayne's a member of my world that made an impact with his willingness to start playing pool with me, roller skate around many ovals, and share his delicious carrot cake (only one I've ever liked) with his delicious frosting (there's an additional joke for those that may know). It's a joy and honor to have him as a friend.
