Obituary
Jesse Wayne Short, 81, of Tompkinsville, KY passed away Friday, July 28th, at his home.
Wayne was born in Tompkinsville, KY on July 14, 1942, a son of the late Morene Collins and JC Short.
Wayne was retired from Eaton Axle after working for over 20 years. He also had worked for the Kentucky Highway Department, owned a BBQ in Glasgow, had a lawn care business and farmed. He was a member of East Mudlick Church of Christ, where he truly enjoyed attending. Wayne liked to play pitch, listen to Bluegrass music, watch UK Basketball games and cheer his grandchildren on at whatever sport they were playing.
Wayne is lovingly survived by a daughter, Revena Rich, and husband, David, of Tompkinsville, KY; a son,Troy Short, and wife, Myranda, of Bowling Green, KY; six grandchildren, Keaton, Alexa, Grayson and Brody Rich, Clarene and Chanlee Short.
He is also survived by sisters, Judy Short, of Glasgow, KY, Jackie Firkins, and husband, Tim, of Louisville, KY; and Barbara Cleary, and husband, Paul, of Glasgow, KY; and brothers, Danny Short, of Conway, SC; Ricky Short, and wife, Debbie, of Loxley, AL; Steve Short, and wife, Margie, of Mud Lick, KY and Charles Short, and wife, Carolyn, of Glasgow, KY; and sister-in-law, Janice Short of Mud Lick, KY.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis (Thompson) Short, brothers, James and Clyde Short; sister, Ruby Chloe Short Eubank.
Funeral services will be held at Yokley Trible Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Monroe County Memorial Lawn.
Visitation is Monday, 5-8 p.m., and Tuesday, 8:00 a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home.
