Mr. Wayne Shorty, age 66, of 328 Walnut Street,
Thomson, GA, entered rest on Monday, April 28, 2025. Wayne was born on Monday, January 19, 1959, in
Thomson, GA to the late L.C., Sr. and Doridene Shorty. He was born fourteen minutes after his shared heartbeat and twin sister, Wilhemine.
Wayne attended McDuffie County Schools and was known to his friends as "Clyde." He was known for his calm demeanor, handsome smile, and that "Shorty Swag" when he walked. Wayne's hobbies included a love for boating, fishing, and fast cars. He was well known for his mechanical intellect in car repair. Wayne accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Poplar Head Missionary Baptist Church in Dearing GA. Upon obtaining employment at Uniroyal Health Tex Inc., in
Thomson, GA, he met the love of his life, Venita Dianne Mathis. Wayne and Venita were united in holy matrimony on Friday, June 28, 1985. From this union, four beloved children were raised, and Venita has continued to be the love of his life. Before his passing, Wayne became a valued employee at Chardan Limited of
Thomson, GA, for sixteen years.
Wayne was preceded in death by his loving wife, Venita Dianne Mathis Shorty; his dear parents, L.C., Sr. and Doridene Shorty; two brothers, L. C. Shorty, Jr. and Carl D. Shorty. Wayne's memory will be forever cherished by his three daughters, Frerica (Deprimathon, Sr.) Jackson, Kimberly (Delwin) Fanning, both of
Thomson, GA, Venitrea U. Shorty of Grovetown, GA and one son, Recardo Senard Mathis, of Hephzibah, GA. He also leaves behind to mourn his passing: four sisters, Wilhemine Heard and Stephanie Parks, both of
Thomson, GA, Lisa (Henry) Stewart of Augusta, GA and Barbara A. Shorty of Atlanta, GA; two brothers, Douglas (Mary) Shorty of
Thomson, GA and Kenneth Shorty of Augusta, GA; one aunt, Mrs. Ludella Hobbs of Dearing, GA.
Although he was a man of few words, Wayne's love shined brightest when he was with his thirteen beloved grandchildren: Thadonsha`, Kemarra, Deprimathon Jr., Na'Cardo, Ke'Miyah, Bre'Ariyah, Keion, Demarrion, Keiona, M'Kenzie, Qui'Mere, Jaylee and Jha'Cere; three great-grandchildren: Taylen, Teion and Keion.
Wayne also leaves to cherish his memory: a loving mother-in-law, Mrs. Emmie Dell Mathis; three sisters-in-law, Joyce E. Moore, Mary (Bobby) Daggett, both of
Thomson, Georgia and Alma (Melvin, Sr.) Baymon of Milledgeville, Georgia; two brothers-in-law, Robert M. Butler of
Thomson, Georgia and Michael E. Mathis of Mesena, Georgia, a devoted friend, Ms. Sylvia Murray, of
Thomson, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
