Wayne Shurte Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 1, 2024.
Wayne Stephen Shurte, born on March 7, 1955, in Torrance, California, passed away peacefully in his home in Bullhead City, Arizona, on July 4, 2024.

Wayne's career began at a truss company in Upland, California, which eventually led him into the construction industry. It was during his time at Upland High School that Wayne met the love of his life, Terry. They married in 1979 in Upland, California, and the following year, moved to Bullhead City where Wayne founded Shurte Construction. In 1985, they welcomed their son, Dylan, who began working alongside his father at the age of 18 and continues to lead Shurte Construction as the foreman.

Wayne cherished living by the river, indulging in activities such as fishing, boating, skiing, and simply enjoying the serenity of the water. The sands of Bullhead City also beckoned him, and he relished exploring the off-road trails in every imaginable off-road vehicle. Wayne was a devoted father, always there to cheer on Dylan during his jet ski racing days, as well as his roller hockey and soccer travel teams during high school.

Known for his loving, caring, and generous nature, Wayne was a silent benefactor within his community. He dedicated his time and skills to assisting cancer patients and had a big heart for the Boys and Girls Club of the Colorado River, to which he frequently donated. His generosity extended to the Bullhead and Laughlin Chambers of Commerce, where he sponsored numerous events each year.

Wayne loved Terry and she kept him smiling. They were truly best friends.

Wayne and Terry were looking forward to celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on August 25th.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Wayne's name to The Boys and Girls Club of the Colorado River are appreciated.

Wayne's legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will forever be remembered by those who knew him.
