Wayne Phillips Standage Jr.

Wayne Phillips Standage Jr., 74, passed away on November 6, 2025, in Apache Junction, Arizona. A proud seventh-generation Arizonian, Wayne's life was deeply rooted in the land and history of his home state.

Born on December 11, 1951, in Phoenix, Arizona, Wayne grew up with a strong sense of community and heritage. He graduated from Westwood High School in 1970 and continued his education by taking classes at Mesa Community College and Arizona State University. His passion for public service led him to become certified for law enforcement in Arizona.

Wayne dedicated much of his professional life to protecting and serving others. He served as a reserve deputy with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO), worked as a patrol officer in Buckeye, and later contributed to safety and security as an officer at the Palo Verde Generating Station. His commitment to law enforcement reflected his deep respect for justice and public safety.

A man of faith, Wayne served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Argentina. His time there left a lasting impression on him and shaped his lifelong dedication to service.

Wayne had a deep love for learning, particularly in the areas of law enforcement and history. He was passionate about Arizona's rich past and took great pride in sharing stories with family members and friends. His enthusiasm for storytelling helped preserve cherished memories and traditions across generations.

In Apache Junction, Wayne was an active volunteer who served on numerous committees aimed at improving the community he loved so dearly. Whether through civic engagement or informal conversations, he worked tirelessly to make his town a better place for all.

Wayne shared his life with Cindy, his beloved wife. Together they built a home filled with warmth, animals they lovingly cared for, and countless outdoor adventures. The couple often went horseback riding and found joy in exploring nature together.

Wayne's legacy is one of service, curiosity, and devotion-to his family, and the community, he called home. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A Funeral Service will be held on November 22, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 2520 E Old West Highway. Viewing to be held from 9:00-9:45 prior to service.
