Wayne Wells age 75, of Taylor, NE, passed away on November 8, 2025, at the CHI Good Samaritan in Kearney, NE.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Loup County Event Center in Taylor, NE. Memorials are suggested to the Loup County Fire and Rescue Squad or Taylor Build Better Together. Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Wayne was born on August 5th, 1950, to Lloyd and Eleanor Wells. Wayne attended country school through the 8th grade and then attended Ansley High School. Wayne enlisted in the Army National Guard after graduation. Wayne married Willa Joan McCleary on May 24, 1973, at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow. To this union they had three kids, Tami, Jamie, and Mandy. They lived in Cumro where Tami and Jamie attended country school at Round Hill and then they later moved west of Taylor where they took time to raise a family. Wayne worked construction and helped build the Calamus Reservoir and operated Wells Bargain Barn furniture and antique store with his mother in Broken Bow. There was always several farm animals outside to care for and kept his wife busy. Later Wayne worked for the Barta Ranch.
Wayne enjoyed going to auctions to find treasures to add to his many antique collections. Wayne truly enjoyed hunting and fishing. Nightly coon hunting with his family and friends and coon hounds took up most of his free time. Wayne later enjoyed hearing his grandkids hunting stories and never a dull moment and lots of laughter when he would tell his stories. Wayne enjoyed following his grandchildren’s sport activities and playing cards with friends and family.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Willa Wells of Taylor, and son, Jamie (Melissa) Wells of Merna, daughters Mandy Micheel and Tami (Luke) Glidden of Taylor, one sister, Connie Wagner of Kearney, six grandchildren Hailey Glidden and finance Cole Christoffersen, Madison Glidden, Ally Micheel, Slate Micheel, Jadon Wells; and Jarrett Wells.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Eleanor Wells.
