They moved to Sitka, Alaska where he was a police officer in various capacities with the Sitka Police Department for 25 years. Weldon retired from policing in 1997 and he and Susan moved to Pinetop, Arizona where they enjoyed numerous outdoor activities. They expanded their interests to include canine search and rescue with their Doberman, Dylan. In 2004 they moved to Coeur d' Alene and remained active and involved in numerous activities.

Weldon died unexpectedly from a stroke on 7/19/25. Weldon was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Dorothy and his brother Wayne.
