Wendell Steitzer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lynch & Sons Funeral Home - Walled Lake on Jan. 8, 2026.
Wendell Lee "Digger" Steitzer, age 61, passed away on January 2, 2026. He was born on January 13, 1964.
Wendell-known to many simply as Digger-was a man who lived by his own code. One of his strongest beliefs was that family was never defined by blood alone. To him, family was built through loyalty, love, shared hardship, and shared laughter. He taught those around him that connection mattered more than lineage, and that once you were welcomed into his circle, you were family for life. Those lessons were not just spoken, but lived-instilled in his children and reflected in the countless relationships he built along the way.
Digger was a giving soul in the truest sense of the word. He would give anything he had if it meant helping his fellow man. Whether it was offering a hand when someone was down, lifting a heavy mood with humor, or simply buying a free beer to make someone feel seen, he brought light into people's lives in ways both big and small. His generosity was effortless and genuine, never seeking recognition-only connection.
Digger's legacy does not live through these words, but through the lives he touched, the family he built beyond blood, and the kindness he gave without hesitation. It lives on in every lesson passed forward, every hand extended to help another, and every moment someone chooses compassion because of him.
He had a way of raising up everyone around him, teaching by example what it meant to be kind, loyal, and real. His presence left people better than he found them, and his absence will be felt deeply by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Please join us for Diggers Celebration of Life on Friday, January 30th, 2026 at 5pm located at The Walled Lake Eagles Club, 1721 Glengary Rd, Wolverine Lake, MI 48390. We will all be wearing his favorite color blue in remembrance of him.
