Wendell Wood Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Miller Funeral Home on Feb. 13, 2026.
Mr. Wendell Carroll Wood, age 84, of Tallapoosa, GA, received his ultimate healing on February 12, 2026. He was born August 1, 1941 in Tallapoosa to the late Hoyt Herbert Wood and Gladys Irene Williams Wood.

Wendell graduated with the West Haralson High School Class of 1959 and worked as a dairy farmer all his life. In his younger years he also enjoyed training horses and later learned to woodwork. He could build almost anything, but if he couldn't, he knew just who to call. He loved getting to know people and never met a stranger.

Wendell also loved to garden and to cook and BBQ. He was most famous for his Brunswick stew recipe. He was a devoted member of Crossroads Baptist Church and helped to establish the West Haralson Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Barbara Rosser Wood; daughter and son in law, Elizabeth and Doyle Barber; son, Dell Wood, Jr, all of Tallapoosa; grandchildren, Wayne Frost, Cory Wood, Santana Wood, and Andi Wood; great grandchildren, Zoey Wood, Katy Wood, and Hailey Wood; and sisters, Gloria Ann Heard and Frances Griffin, both of Cedartown, GA.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 15, 2026 at 3:00PM at Crossroads Baptist Church with Brother Wesley Clackum, and Elder Travis Warren officiating. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers will be Clint Patterson, Kevin Hicks, Jason Warren, Terry Heard, John Adams, Brandon Griffin, and Brett Callahan. Interment will follow in Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, February 15th from 11:30AM to 2:30PM.
