Dear Family and close friends of Wendy,
i received news of this tragic accident from my dear friend Judy Shupack. Time does not fill the gap that Wendy´s passing has left among you. I hope you have found ways to "be" with her--perhaps by participating in activities that she cherished. May the losses we suffer form us into more loving and compassionate beings. Wendy was one of my favorite fellow nurses to run into. She was always interested in what you were doing and took the time to stop and chat. We are now minus a wonderful and dedicated nurse. I am so sorry for your tragic, shocking loss.

I also worked with Wendy as a coworker at YVC. We would often meet during student advising and I always liked talking with her. She remembered my wife and asked about our sons. I am so terribly sorry this happened but I will remember her as caring, intelligent, and friendly. You are in our thoughts.

Wendy was simply one of the most accomplished, kind, beautiful, smart and welcoming people whom I have ever met. We first met her at Vanderbilt, then were both fortunate to end up on the West Coast together. While meetings were too few, they were always fun, and you never left a conversation with Wendy without feeling more positive. We will forever cherish those memories, and she lives on in Ben, Neil and all of those with whom she interacted. What a brilliant legacy for an extraordinary woman. Much love to her friends and family. Kathy and Dan Neuzil

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always. Wendy you were a blessing to the community and to the college. It was a pleasure to work next to you as you were always so thoughtful of others. Nursing was your true passion. I thank you for all that you did in collaboration with WSU's nursing program. We are all in this together. May your spirit live on.

Wendy's obituary paints a beautiful picture of an extraordinary renaissance woman. I came to know and admire her at Slauson, when we both made music in the Concert Band under Dan Long's baton. She was a gifted trumpet player in a time when that was still considered unique and managed to balance near perfect grades with her music and a rich spiritual and social life. We "went together," as was the dating term back then, for a time in the winter of seventh or eighth grade and remained friends until graduation tossed us all in different directions. The entire Baker family were pretty special. Betsy was my sister Judy's age and officiated at her wedding. And I have warm memories of parties at her parents' house where everyone always felt welcome and siblings Jamie, John and Betsy were always included in the fun.
I followed Wendy's career from afar and smiled as each new puzzle piece fell into place. She was a great listener, one of the most empathetic and compassionate people I ever met. Her rich adventures always centered on leaving every soul who crossed her path in a better place.
Hearing that she is no longer with us is a gut punch, a reminder to hold those we treasure close and to celebrate the wonderful dimensions of Wendy we try to emulate as the ever evolving, caring souls we still endeavor to become.

My deepest condolences to the family. Wendy was my 6th quarter nursing instructor at YVCC and co-worker at Comprehensive Healthcare. She was a wonderful instructor and a pleasure to work with. Always so kind, patient and willing to teach anyone including clients, students and coworkers. I am glad I had the opportunity to study under her and then work by her side. Thank you Wendy for the career guidance only you offered me. You were right in what you told me. Prayers for the family. I am so deeply sorry for the devastating loss you have all experienced. I have learned so much more about her lately and she sure was an amazing woman.
