Wendy Maguire Obituary

Wendy Louise (Rummens) Pascoe Maguire, 87, died April 14, 2024. She was born in Olympia on Oct. 8, 1936, the daughter of William Steen and Elizabeth Louise (Boyd) Rummens.

Wendy graduated from Olympia High School in 1954 and went on to the University of Washington as a communications major. There she met her first husband, Jeff Pascoe. Together they had two daughters, Andrea and Stephanie. The couple later divorced and she married William "Bill" Maguire.

Wendy lead an interesting and often colorful life. From narrowly espcaping the attack on Pearl Harbor by a few days, to taking to the Seattle sky as Wendy in the Sky helicopter traffic reporter for KJR in the mid-1960s, to relocating to a small Ellensburg farm in the early '70s where she raised her family, cattle, chickens and beloved goat, Laverne. Those were Wendy's happiest days as she truly enjoyed the rural lifestyle and the many friends she made in the Kittitas Valley.

Wendy was a voracious reader, a stellar cook, fiercely loyal, caring and giving. She had a great sense of humor and often said he prefered animals to people though she treasured her many lifelong frienships.

Wendy was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lynn and Casey; and both husbands. She is survived by her daughters, Andrea, Stephanie (Danny) Kellogg and Melany (Mitchell) Stroum; son, William "Billy Mac" (Denise) Maguire; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

No services are planned. Wendy will be greatly missed.
