Wendy Speer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shaw & Sons Funeral Home on Apr. 4, 2024.
Wendy June (Wenzel) Speer of Yakima, Washington, passed away peacefully on the morning of April 1, 2024.
Wendy was born December 17, 1958, in Yakima, Washington.
As a child, Wendy spent some time in California, but Yakima was her home. Growing up, Wendy enjoyed playing board games with family, water-skiing, and teaching gymnastics at Gymnastics Plus. She graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1977.
After high school, Wendy worked in the insurance industry for nearly 30 years. She was very proud of her career and met many life-long friends through her work.
On April 8, 1978, Wendy married Randy Speer. The two were together until Randy passed away in October 2016. They raised three children together, Tyler, Adam, and Lisa. Wendy loved watching her children play sports, especially baseball and basketball. She was always their biggest fan cheering them on from the stands.
Wendy was a great conversationalist who never met a stranger. She had an impeccable memory and would often share stories about her past. She was a great listener and found joy in learning about other people's lives as well. She had a unique way of making everyone feel included.
Wendy was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and a loyal friend. She will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Carol and Don Wenzel, and her husband, Randy. She is survived by her two sons, Tyler Speer (Abigail) of Seattle, WA, and Adam Speer (Lauren) of Yakima, WA, her daughter, Lisa Schneider (Brian) of Yakima, WA, her grandchildren, Nolan, Elaine, Kaitlyn, Connor, and Cooper, her sister, Laura Tyler of Yakima, WA, many nieces, nephews, and everyone she called a friend.
A Remembrance will be held April 13, 2024, at 10:00am, at Shaw & Sons (201 N. 2nd Street, Yakima, WA).
A special thank you to MulitCare Memorial Hospital, Brookdale Senior Living, Arcadia Nursing Home, and all of the staff who have supported her.
Shaw & Sons Funeral Home is caring for the family. Memories and condolences can be shared at www.shawandsons.com.
