Wesley always brought a smile to my face whenever I saw him. He had a grace to him that was infectious to all he encountered. When coaching him in basketball as a youth, he was our "go-to" guy. He wanted the ball, he wanted to make the play. He was calm and determined. A natural leader. Off the court too, he was a fine young man. He extended his hand first to shake upon greeting and looked you in the eye. There was depth to his soul even as a youngster.
Our hearts filled with sadness learning the news of his passing.
We are comforted with the knowledge that wherever Wes is now, he is making people smile once again. The young man had that quality.
To entire Easter family, our love and prayers are extended. Wes, we miss you.

Dear Easter family,
I am so sorry to hear about what has happened and I send my thoughts and prayers to your family. I still can't believe the terrible news as it was only last month when Wesley visited Minneapolis and I was able to spend some time with him and some of our friends from the Burroughs days. I'll never forget being a little girl in 6th grade with the biggest crush on Wesley along with most other girls in our class. He was funny, smart, athletic, and not to mention cute to look at. After he moved back to Atlanta I looked forward to the days he would come back knocking at my door to hang out and play basketball when it was actually warm in minnesota. Although he was only with us for a short time he made a big impact on all those he met and he will never be forgotten. Even 8 years later, he still to this day was a great friend to all of us in Minneapolis and will be greatly missed.
Love and Prayers,

Dear Easter family,
We were all sadened to hear about Wes' passing. We send our prayers your way to help you through this time. For the few years that Wes spent with us in Minneapolis, he became a friend in which none of us will ever forget. His kind nature was evident wherever he went, whether it was at Burroughs or while playing sports. He was a very talented person, who made us all jealous on the field, court, etc. and with his dashing good looks!
Wes will always be remembered by so many of us here in Minnesota and we will forever charish the memories that we have.

Dan & Family,
May you remember all the wonderful times you had with your son Wes throughout his short time with us. In reading about him on this site it was very aparent that he truly rose to the occasion at every step of his life.
Personally, I remember traveling on business with you Dan just last summer and watching you speak to Wes on the phone on more than one occasion. There was a unique father-son connection that I could hear in your voice as well as see in your eyes that this young man was very special to you, as are all your children.
Obviously this will be a very difficult time for all of you and one in which the pain will never go away. Trust in your faith that Wes is now in a better place watching over you.
Sincerely & with sympathy,

Dear Ceci,
Life changes in a split second and our worlds stop.....The lives of your family and all the people who love Wesley are forever changed. When something like this happens, that is so clearly out of life's order I believe we all pause, stop and try to make sense of something that will never make sense. I believe Wesley's life gives all of us the opportunity to recognize life is short, to understand and appreciate he made the most of every day and just as his world was filled with love, Wesley spread love, lived his life with respect and defined doing his best in all endeavors. My hope is you and your family will feel the love surrounding you today as well as in the days ahead.

A message to Wes's mother:
You do not know me, nor do I know you.
I was also part of the group of 40 year olds that Wes kindly ferried to and from a concert in December. For the most part, we were graduates of the Lovett School in the year 1987. Clearly, we saw much earlier versions of ourselves in him. He hung around before the show, at a friend's house, putting up with an enormous amount of silliness of a bunch of reluctantly aging friends.
I witnessed him off to the side, clearly rising above. He was so patient with the sad efforts some old cronies to conjure up a good time.
When I got home, one of the first comments to my wife was not about the concert, but about your son and how impressed I was with him.
When I saw his obituary this morning, I was horrified. I was horrified at the unfairness of it all. The understatement of the century is to say that this young man was taken from you in his prime.
While I know i cannot offer you the one thing you want the most right now, maybe, just maybe, in due time, you'll receive this message as evidence that your son possessed the true measure of a man:
that a stranger was moved by him.
May you and your family have peace.

I met Wes this summer through my daughter, Hope. He was in our home on a number of occassions and I was always struck by his good manners. His death has left us both shaken and profoundly sad. He was a very fine young man who left an indelible impression and a warm place in our hearts forever. Everytime I walked into the room Wes would stand up. I knew then he was "raised right". We are thankful to have known him and can only imagine your sorrow. You are all in our prayers, Nina and Hope Allison

Wes,
A group of children were asked what they believed Heaven to be, one little girl said "Heaven is beautiful with no hurt or talking about people. It is all good. You will be beautiful. Clouds are floating. People are laughing and praying with Jesus. You get everything you want, and you have beautiful voices to sing for God's Glory. Sunflowers are everywhere and the streets are even made of gold!"
Despite all the laughing and praying and golden streets you get to enjoy right this very moment, I wish you were still here. Selfishly, I wish God had not taken you yet. You've left imprints on my heart, as well as countless others that will never be washed away. I am so proud to have considered you a friend and I know many would agree when I say that you are already missed. I can't wait to see you again.
Love,
Molly

Wes,
It seems like yesterday you entered the grade below me at Westminster. Just a few years before high school I was a new student at Westminster myself, and I knew how difficult it was to adjust to Westminster: academically, socially, and in every other way imaginable. I was quietly jealous observing how easy you made it look. You made the transition almost immediately, and I think that says a lot about the kind of person you are. As far as extra-curricular activities were concerned you were as naturally talented athletically as I was out-of-shape and lazy.
Because you made such a quick transition into Westminster I was able to get to know you quickly during free periods and later hanging out outside of school. You were an honest man with a pure heart. I have great memories of us kicking it in high school. My only regret is that I could have spent my senior year at Westminster if I had just stayed for the remainder of junior year, but Kevin Reel promised and assured me before I took some time off at the end of junior year that I could come back for senior year. You were the kind of person who would keep a promise, at age sixteen or seventeen you had more character than our own high school principal. He and Dr. Clarkson went back on their word and would not let me come back to graduate with my friends and spend my last year with my underclassmen friends such as yourself. It makes me especially bitter now that I missed that year, and all the opportunities I could have had to hang with you.
You were going to go on to do great things in your life and at times like these I look to God to try to understand why this happened. You are the last person this should have happened to. I can only conclude that God had a purpose for your soul of greater significance. It is comforting knowing your soul is at peace and in a better place. And the best part about the place where you are: the fact that all of us will join you. I will continue to pray for you and your family.
