HUNTER
Wesley Luther “Wes” Hunter, age 52, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 4, 2025, in the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center.
Born February 7, 1973, in London, Wes was the son of Garnett Hunter and Valda (Burkitt) Hunter.
Wes was a hardworking and good-hearted man who spent many years as a forklift operator at Staples, where he was known for his reliability, steady nature, and friendly smile. He was a member of the Newport Global Methodist Church. Outside of work and church, he found joy in raising animals and spending quiet hours reading – two passions that brought him peace and fulfillment.
He will be lovingly remembered for his humble heart, his patience, and the simple kindness he showed to everyone around him.
He leaves behind numerous family and friends including his loving wife of 26 years: Sheila (Morgan) Hunter; daughter Alicia (Travis) Cassady and son Andrew (Jessica) Burns; grandchildren: T.J. Cassady, Ava Cassady, Olivia Burns, and Owen Burns; mother Valda Hunter; brothers Jeff Hunter, Greg (Jennifer) Hunter, and Brad (Jenny L.) Hunter;
Nieces and nephews: Sean (Jessica) Hunter, Christina Hunter, Allison Webb, and Ashtyn Webb; uncles Bill Burkitt, Paul Burkitt, and Frank (Barbara) Burkitt, aunt Sharon Burkitt; many cousins including Kermee Hunter.
Wes was preceded in death by his father Garnett Hunter, several aunts and uncles including Kerm Hunter.
The Hunter family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon in the Newport Global Methodist Church, 80 Center Street SE, London, Ohio 43140. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Kevin Slyh officiating, and interment will follow in Paint Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Wes’ name may be sent to benefit the American Cancer Society online at www.cancer.org, or the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library online at https://imaginationlibrary.com/.
