follow at Lone Cedar Cemetery in Baum, Oklahoma. The family will host

Sunday, December 14th from 5:00-7:00 PM.
Don was born on February 18, 1956 to Franklin Virdell Scruggs
and Anita Irene Henderson Scruggs in Madill, Oklahoma. He was the
youngest of their 5 children. He died while working at his property on
Thursday, December 11, 2025 at the age of 69. Don was raised in
Mannsville, Oklahoma where he lived all his life. He graduated from
Dickson High School in 1974 and went to work for the Daily Ardmoreite
as a pressman, working alongside his brother Bill, and retiring in
2021 after 47 years of loyal service.
Don married the love of his life, Pamela "Sam" Richards on June 4,
1974 in Ardmore, Oklahoma and they lived their entire married life
together in the Greasy Bend area north of Mannsville, Oklahoma. They
were the proud parents of Wesley Don Scruggs, Jr. and Samantha Fern
Scruggs.
Don also worked as a farmer, growing the absolute best Greasy Bend
watermelons, custom hay bailing and raising cattle. Don could fix
anything and was always just a phone call away. He would help anyone in need
and literally give the shirt off his back to help others.
In Don's spare time he enjoyed traveling to McCook, Nebraska and
pheasant hunting with Wes and his friends. He also enjoyed attending
all his grandkids activities, especially his granddaughters softball
games where he loved heckling the umpires.
Don was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, "Sam" on October
23, 2018. He was also preceded in death by his parents and 3 of his
siblings, Virginia Gaither, Bob Scruggs and Bill Scruggs. He is
survived by his son Wes and wife Courtney Scruggs of Dickson, Oklahoma
and his daughter Samantha Scruggs and Ricky "Trust" Paige of the home,
his grandson KiLee Bradley and wife Sherry Bradley of Baum, Oklahoma
and two granddaughters, Breckyn Scruggs and Bristol Scruggs of
Dickson, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley George
and her husband Johnny of Mannsville, Oklahoma, as well as several
nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Gus Duncan, Derek Gray, Shawn Barnes, Brandon
Hill, Daniel Woods and Zach Gastineau.
