Age 63 of Wilmington, Illinois, died Monday, February 7, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born December 14, 1958 in Valparaiso, Indiana, Wesley Eric is a son of Gloria (nee Dancey) Stokke of Ottawa, Illinois, and the late Lowell Stokke. He was raised in Hebron, Indiana and graduated from Hebron High School with the Class of 1977.
Wes was currently employed with United Machinery and Tool in Minooka. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetables, which he consistently gave away. Wes was an animal lover and overall fun guy who was a true jokester. One who invented the selfie before it had a name, Wes will be most remembered as a proud father and grandpa.
Survivors include his wife, Lori Schroeder; daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Nathan Serena of Ft. Mill, South Carolina; Grandaughters; Shelby Grace, Addison Rae, and Hannah June; his mother, Gloria Stokke; brother, Mark (Kathy) Stokke of Minooka and sister, Donna (Larry) Terpstra of Ottawa, as well as nephews and nieces: Christopher Stokke, Melissa (Steve) Larson, Thomas Stokke, Derek Terpstra, and Laura (Brandon) Tarr.
Wes was preceded in death by his father, Lowell.
The family will receive friends for a visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington on Friday, February 11, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of funeral service, 5:00 p.m.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Wes’ memory to the Disabled Veterans, 2122 W. Taylor Street, Suite 104, Chicago, IL 60612.
Family and friends are encouraged to sign the guest book, upload photographs and share Wes’ memorial page online through social media.
