Funeral services for Wesley Henry Wright, 88, of Monroe City, will be at 7:00 PM Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Bienhoff Funeral Home in Perry with Pastor Steve Goughnour officiating.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Wright passed away on November 2, 2024, at his home surrounded by family.
He was born May 5, 1936, in Paris, the son of Turner and Marie Precht Wright.
Wesley married Barbara Jean Shoemate on June 16, 1961, and she preceded him in death on September 4, 1994. He then married Ruth Forbis on February 5, 2000, and she preceded him in death on October 10, 2020.
Survivors include one son; Tom Wright, and one daughter-in-Law; Lynn Wright, two stepsons; Larry (Dawn) Forbis and Ronald (Jean) Forbis, and one stepdaughter; Mary Winn. One brother; Jerry Wright (Violet), three grandchildren; Jon Wright, Katherine Wright, and Cody Wright, sixteen step grandchildren, several great grandchildren and step great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, one son; Daniel Wright, two brothers; Lake Wright and Aubrey Wright, two sisters; Judy Freeman and Alva Easley- Bruce, and two grandchildren Tabitha Wright and Nicole Wright; stepdaughter Connie Yost and stepson Carl Forbis.
Wesley was a US Army veteran, serving from 1959-1961. He was a lifetime resident of Monroe County who enjoyed tinkering with small tractors and cars. He retired from Kaiser Refractories in Mexico, Mo after 44 years of service. After his retirement he stayed active traveling around the country and traveling to see friends and family. Attending bluegrass and country music shows were some of his favorite pastimes. He also enjoyed playing cards at various senior centers and with his friends. Wesley looked forward to his daily visits to the Monroe City Senior Center and loved sharing stories about his life with others.
