Wesson D. "Wes" Lane, 18, came into this world on August 8, 2007, and brought with him a bold, unforgettable spirit. He passed away on November 22, 2025, at UAB with his family holding him close. Though clinically declared on November 19, he remained on a ventilator to fulfill one last act of kindness, giving the gift of life to others through organ donation. Wes called
Jasper, Alabama home, and proudly grew up as a Pineywoods community kid the kind everyone knew, everyone loved, and everyone had a story about.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home, services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel. Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery in Sipsey. James "Coon" Aaron will officiate.
He leaves behind his Parents-Dustin and Whitney Lane; his Aunt-Brandie Key (Jeff); his Uncles-Josh Smothers and Tyler Anders; his Aunt- Samantha Anders; his Great-grandmother-Delder Anders who lovingly called him "Hot Rod" and his Great-grandmother-Dot Woods. Wes also leaves his Grandfathers-Cameron Lane and Jody Smothers, along with a large circle of cousins, neighbors, friends, and a village of bonus moms who helped shape him.
He was welcomed into Heaven by his Grandmother-Tammy Lane; his Nanny; his Papa Lon; Lonnie Marcum; his special bubba-Preston Pierce; his Great-grandfathers-James "Dick," Aaron, Glenn Smothers, and Gary Anders; and his Great-grandmother-Judy "Nanner" Tidwell.
Wes loved adventure from the time he could walk. As a child, he could be found with a fishing pole in his hand or splashing from one Pineywoods pond to the next. He got his first dirt bike at age four and never slowed down; his bikes got bigger, his courage got stronger, and his joy grew right along with him.
When he turned 16, he found a love that became a piece of who he was, his truck. He spent countless hours pouring himself into it, touching every inch with pride, turning it into something no one else could've created. That truck became his signature. You heard it before you saw it, and you smiled because you knew exactly who was coming. It wasn't just his truck; it was Wes. Loud, bold, full of heart, and impossible to forget.
He wasn't quiet, not even close. He was loud, hilarious, and the kind of fun you felt the minute he walked in. Eighteen years wasn't long enough, but he made everyone count with laughter, love, and a spirit no one could ever forget.
Pallbearers
Spencer Pledger, Landon Horner, Phillip Johnson, Juddson Crump, Jake Kitchens, Braxson Richardson, Jacob Allen, and Luke Vinson. His friends who stood beside him through every chapter of boyhood.
Honorary Pallbearers
Wes came into this world as an only child, but life gifted him three brothers Carson Key, Riley Key, and Jadden Anders. Together they shared every holiday, every milestone, every laugh, every childhood chapter. They were his boys, his family, his forever circle. And now, instead of carrying his casket, they will walk behind him shoulder to shoulder, heart to heart just as they always did. Their role is not to bear the weight of his loss, but to carry the weight of his love, his legacy, and the lifetime of memories they built together.
