Chester Leroy Ross

Chester Leroy Ross (Chet), 92, of Lenexa, KS, passed away Tuesday, September 07, 2010 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Born 1918 in Manhattan, KS. Chet spent most of his life in Topeka, KS and the last five years in Lenexa, KS. Son of Charles and Mary Ross, Chet served in the Army during World War II. Chet was married 63 years to Virginia Medlock Ross, who preceded him death in 2005. Chet was also preceded in death by a brother, Delbert and a sister Dorothy. Chet worked for The John Morrell Co., Forbes Air Force Base Supply Depot and the retired in 1980 from the US Postal Regional Supply Center. He was a member of Northland Christian Church. Chet was a long time member of the Topeka Moose Lodge, and was an amateur ham radio operator. His other hobbies included fishing, RV camping and most of all his love for big band music. Chet is survived by his son Larry Ross of Lenexa and three nieces, Darlene Appenfeller of Maple Hill, KS, Sandra Linsacum of Folsom, CA and Betty Lutz of Holton, KS.
