Wilbert D. Thomas Jr.

Wilbert D. Thomas Jr., 88, of Monroeville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026. Beloved husband of Marlene F. Thomas; loving father of John J. Thomas (spouse, Christine); grandfather of Morgan L. Thomas and Rachel L. Thomas; brother of John H. Thomas (spouse, Rita); preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert Sr. and Josephine Thomas (Peychik). Born in Lyndora, Pennsylvania, Wilbert was a graduate of Butler High School. After graduation, Wilbert proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1962. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Wilbert met and married the love of his life, Marlene, and was happily married for 63 years until his death. Wilbert was proud of his Slovak heritage and a faithful parishioner of his Byzantine Catholic Church. He treasured watching his son's and later his granddaughters' activities and in his spare time enjoyed cheering on his favorite football teams, including Notre Dame, the University of Pittsburgh, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Family and friends were received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, at JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. (MONROEVILLE/PLUM CHAPEL), 445 Beatty Road, Monroeville (412-856-4747). A funeral of Divine Liturgy was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at the Church of the Resurrection, 455 Center Road, Monroeville. There will be no visitation or services on Friday, February 27, 2026.
