Wilbert F. "Wib" Timmermann, age 97, of Albers, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Breese Nursing Home. He was born December 2, 1927, in Breese, a son of the late Mary (nee Duing) and Aloysius Timmermann Sr.
In addition to his parents, Wib was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy A. "Dot" Timmermann (nee Korte) whom he married August 28, 1952, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers and who died September 1, 2006; siblings, Elvira (Louis) Grapperhaus, Bernice (Paul) Von Bokel, Stanley Timmermann, Aloys "Ollie" (Jeanette) Timmermann, and Robert "Bob" Timmermann; father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Clara (nee Beckmann) Korte; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frank Usselmann, Leon Albers, Anna Jean Timmermann, Jeanette Kohrs, Adele (Ray) Jansen, Alfred "Fritz" (Lou) Korte, Edwin Trame, Wilbert "Bert" (Valeria) Korte, and Louis Korte.
Wib is survived by his children, Carol (Chris) Manfucci of O'Fallon, Connie (Steve) Loepker of Carlyle, and Ron (Paula) Timmermann of Carlyle; grandchildren, Abbey (Tim) Myers, Sarah (special friend, Aaron Schmidt) Manfucci, Cassie (Tyler) VanDeveer, Lauren (Tyler) Myers, Nick (Lyndsey) Timmermann, and Jason (significant other, CJ McCoy) Timmermann; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Brady, Harper, and Quinn Myers, McKenna VanDeveer, Luke and Tessa Beckmann, Dru and Drake Myers, Hailey and Alex Timmermann, and Korbin Timmermann; siblings, Rita Usselmann of Breese, Ruth Albers of Germantown, Rich Timmermann of Breese, and Larry Timmermann of Breese; sisters-in-law, Helen Timmermann of Breese, Jane Timmermann of Germantown, Loretta Trame of Breese, and Arlene Korte of Damiansville; special friend, Mary Karcher of Glen Carbon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Wib served his country honorably during the Korean War from 1951-1952. Following his service, he worked as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic at Scott Air Force Base and embraced his role as a lifelong grain farmer, cultivating the land with dedication and pride.
Wib was a man of deep faith, a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers and the Holy Name Society. His commitment to service extended to his membership in the Albers American Legion Post 1026 and Carlyle Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3523. Known for his creativity and resourcefulness, Wib enjoyed woodworking, collecting toy tractors, and the simple pleasures of life-playing cards with friends, winning a round of bingo, and sharing stories that brought laughter to those around him.
In his younger years, Wib and Dot found joy in traveling, exploring new places, and dancing the night away at Legion events. As a family man, Wib was happiest when surrounded by his loved ones. He took immense pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers with Fr. Matt Elie presiding. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Albers with full military honors accorded.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 9:00 – 10:45 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers.
The Albers American Legion Post 1026 will hold services at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to Albers American Legion or St. Bernard Cemetery and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
