Wilburn J McVay

Funeral Services for Mr. Wilburn Jim McVay, 91, of Sterlington, LA, will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 10, 2023, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Monroe, with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.

 

Mr. McVay was born March 25, 1932 and passed away on October 6, 2023. He was a gifted brick mason before his retirement in 2001. He was the son of the late Clayton and Crittie McVay.

 

He is preceded in death by his wife, Estelle McVay; special friend, Virginia Schoolfield; brothers, Homer McVay, O’Neal McVay, Everett McVay, Grant McVay, Chalmos McVay, Curtis McVay, Lacy McVay and Tracy McVay; sisters, Ethel Spence, Rose Odom, and Fann Meyer.

 

Survivors include his son, Ronnie McVay; daughters, Annette Thornell and husband James, Kathy Powell and husband Mike, Debbie Kirkland and husband Mike; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson on the way; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

Pallbearers will be Jason Powell, Kris Powell, Wesley McVay, Mike Powell, Kyle Gwin, and John Lambert. Honorary Pallbearer will be David Collins.

 

Memorials may be made St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

 

Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Mulhearn Funeral Home Monroe.
