Wilda E. "Gurlie" Cain

Wilda Elaine Cain, affectionately known as "Gurlie" was born in Allman Town, Kingston, Jamaica. She was born on the Lord's day, Sunday, September 22, 1935.
Gurlie was the third child of four. She was welcomed into this world just a minute ahead of her twin brother Derrick "Boyee" by her loving parents Clarice Williams and James Bryan.
Her formative years as well as her secondary education were in Kingston, where she wed Beresford Cain in 1956. Seeking better job opportunities "Beres" moved to London England. Wilda followed her husband across the Atlantic, 6 months later and obtained work as a presser/seamstress. A few years later Wilda gave birth to the eldest, Valerie followed by Gary.
The family migrated to Ontario, Canada in 1965 where they later welcomed Jumanne. Job opportunities brought the young family to the United States, first to New York and ultimately to Passaic, New Jersey, where the last son, Tekahide was born.
Gurlie ran the household, worked as a nurses aide and furthered her education, receiving her Nursing degree from William Paterson University Wayne, NJ. She took much pride in her achievements, however this woman of God had a deep passion for service. Her giving continued post retirement, caring for Kennille Thomas, Madge Jones, Mr. Wexler, family members and friends.
Wilda earned a Certificate of Evangelism from Faith Temple New Hope, her home church, in East Orange, New Jersey. She regularly studied the bible and was an active participant in the Potter's House Ministries of Bishop T.D. Jakes. She also loved Bishop Dale C. Bronner, Benny Hinn, and Creflo Dollar.
Wilda was preceded in death by her brother; Derrick Bryan and sister; Louise Henry.
She leaves to remain and cherish beautiful memories her children; Valerie, Gary, (wife Tanya), Jumanne and Tekahide, eldest sister; Joyce Stoner. She is also survived by loving grandchildren; Clinton A. Jackson IV, Shanae Fields (husband Y'Shun), Brian Jackson, Ny'Jah Allen, Chesne Cain, Jni Cain and Zaire Cain. She adored her great grandchildren; Nyira Savae, Journee, Y'Shai, Jersey and Cali. She also leaves behind Trevor Flowers (Godson), many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
