Wilfred “Whitey” Weyant, 89, of Center Point, Iowa, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. Visitation: 5 – 7 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Anchor Bible Church, Center Point. Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Monday, November 10, 2025, at the church. Burial will take place at Center Point Cemetery with military honors. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, assisted the family.
Whitey was born November 12, 1935, in Fayette, Iowa, the son of George and Lula (Nading) Weyant. After he graduated from Fayette High School he served his country in the United States Army. After the Army, Whitey attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette. On August 9, 1957, he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Buhman. Whitey worked for FMC/Link Belt for 20 years and also worked as a guard at Rockwell Collins. After retirement he enjoyed working odd jobs. Whitey was a proud member of the Center Point American Legion and an active member of Anchor Bible Church. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals, always happy when the Chicago Cubs lost, and was a dedicated fan of Center Point high school sports. Whitey enjoyed fishing, golfing, watching the Hawkeyes, and driving around town in his golf cart. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his children, Ann (Dan) Estabrook, Sherri (Kevin) Squires, and Tom (Jesse) Weyant; 8 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Jim Buhman, and Vernie Larson; and Goddaughter, Kim Heaverlo.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary Weyant; parents, George and Lula Weyant; son, Tim Weyant; and all his siblings.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
