Wilhelmina "Willy" Peeperkorn Blitz, 100, of Atlanta, GA passed away peacefully at home on 5/5/2025. The fourth of nine siblings, she was born 1/13/1925 in Heemstede, Netherlands (Holland). After the Nazi occupation and the end of World War II, she emigrated to the US. Her husband of forty-one years, Rudolph Blitz, Ph.D in economics and professor at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN predeceased her. She worked as a librarian and spoke four languages: Dutch, German, English, and Spanish. She was a great lover of classical music and the arts, and actively supported the Nashville Symphony and The Nashville Handweavers Guild for the decades she lived in Nashville before moving to Atlanta. In her fifties she found her passion-handweaving and the textile arts- which she pursued actively into her nineties, winning awards for excellence along the way. She is survived by her four children: Daniela Gitlin and husband Kevin Gitlin; Jules Blitz; Cati Blitz; Anna Blitz and husband Jason Moss; and grandchildren Michael Gitlin, Lucas Moss, and Maxine Moss. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her memory to the Grady PSTAR (Persistent Symptoms: Treatment, Assessment, and Recovery) Clinic (a.k.a. Psychosis Program Fund) at: https://together.emory.edu/WilhelminaBlitz.
