Willard F. Dauphinee, known lovingly to all as Bill, passed away on March 16, 2026, at his home in Gorham, Maine. Born on October 23, 1929, in Calais, Maine, Bill lived a long and remarkable life filled with hard work, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to the people he loved.

As a young man, Bill answered the call to serve his country, spending time as a veteran stationed in Germany. That experience shaped him in lasting ways, instilling in him a deep sense of duty and discipline that he carried throughout the rest of his life. When he returned home, he found his calling as a steeple jack, a rare and demanding trade that took him high above the rooftops of southern Maine. Over the years, Bill restored and built many steeples across the region, leaving his mark on the landscape in a way that few craftsmen ever do. It was work that required courage, skill, and steady hands, all qualities that defined him.

Bill married the love of his life, Connie, and together they built a partnership that endured for an extraordinary 70 years. Their marriage was the foundation of a close and loving family, and Bill took immense pride in every member of it. When he wasn't working, he could be found outdoors doing what he loved best, whether that meant hunting in the Maine woods or casting a line into his favorite fishing spot. The natural world was a second home to him.

Those who knew Bill will remember a man whose presence filled every room he entered. He had a gift for laughter and a generous spirit when it came to sharing his wisdom and knowledge. He was always willing to offer advice, and his words carried the weight of a life well lived. His family knew him as a steady guide, a loving father, and a true friend.

Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife Connie and survived by his daughters, Linda Ray and husband David, Janice Libbey and husband Scott, and Vicki Woodbrey and husband Mark; as well as several grandchildren.

May he find eternal peace in God's grace, resting in the assurance of a life that touched so many.

A private graveside service will be held this spring at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Gone but never forgotten, your lessons live in my heart. Always my father, always my friend.
