Willette Pollard Floyd

May the work that I've done speak for me...
Mom transition peacefully January 21, 2026, in the place she loved most "Home". The place where she knew she was loved and very well taken care of. Willette was the oldest of 6 children, born December 29, 1929, to the late Hearon and Mamie Lou Blevins.

During her years of growing up, she developed a knowledge of having compassion, empathy and a need for trying to be a part of making people around her lives better from what little she had to offer. She united with the Little Zion M.B. Church at an early age. Mom was very involved in the church. She was church secretary for many years, involved very much in home mission and other auxiliaries.

Mom was united in marriage to the late Tuen Pollard (Bud). During this union four children were born: Mae, Catherine, Ed and Earnest. In August of 2023, we lost our beloved brother Earnest. Those years of raising her family made her more aware of the needs she also witnessed in her own upbringing. Mom had a deep desire to learn, we were all learning together. She was getting her GED, learning piano and anything else she thought would make life better for herself and her family. She loved watching things grow, starting from a seedling, watching it become a part of your meal on the table. She loved planting flowers to watch them grow into big flourishing ones or little twigs everywhere.

After the passing of Dad in 1985, mom later united in marriage to the late Lewis Floyd. During this marriage a blended family was formed, he had five children and we all became family. Sis. Willette was well known and became Grandma to many. She loved her extended families. She would chastise every child she kept as her own (just ask them). She made sure they were loved and fed. Mom had a passion for wanting to help everyone that needed help and for them to know that she was willing to help in anyway.

She leaves to cherish her memories, three children: Mae Shumpert, Catherine Blair, and Edward (Sherlene) Pollard; a sister Mary Finger, host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives and friends. Mom is rejoicing. Today is a day of celebration. This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.
