William Dale Armstrong, known lovingly as Bill, was born on June 27, 1932 in
Akron, Ohio He passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026 at the age of 93 in
Lakeland, Florida with his beloved wife by his side.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Marguerite (Heineman) Armstrong and Dale Armstrong, his sister, Ruth Friend and his daughter Debbie Armstrong.
He is survived by his devoted wife Linda Armstrong, his sister Mary Armstrong. His children Sue Pantano-Haines (husband LaMarr Haines), Ami Armstrong and David Armstrong. His nephew Kevin Friend and niece Kim Walker. His cherished grandchildren, Frank Pantano (fiancé Gabrielle Monaco), Gina Pantano, Mason Haines, Steven Bartz (wife Melissa Bartz), and Brian Bartz (wife Katherine Bartz). He was also a proud great-grandfather to Kendall, Kenadie, Mia, and Maisie Bartz.
Bill proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. Following his service, he attended The University of Akron, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business and was a member of the university's basketball team-an early reflection of his discipline, teamwork, and determination.
His professional career began as a Certified Public Accountant, and through dedication and leadership, he rose to become Chief Executive Officer of Collins & Aikman Wallcoverings.
Throughout his career, Bill received numerous accolades recognizing his integrity, work ethic, and lasting contributions to the company and industry.
As a man of deep faith, Bill was actively involved in his church and lived as a quiet example of kindness, generosity, and service. He loved the Lord and sought to reflect those values in his everyday life. Outside of work, Bill found joy on the golf course and traveling the world, always appreciating new places and experiences.
Bill will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather-a steady presence whose strength, humility, and compassion touched all who knew him. His legacy lives on through the family he loved and the lives he influenced.
A Memorial Service will be held for Bill on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. at Lakeland Funeral Home 2125 South Bartow Road
Lakeland, FL 33801.
