William Asberry Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by D.M. Williams Funeral Home, Inc. - Rochester on Apr. 5, 2025.
William Asberry, Jr., a devoted husband, loving father, veteran, and proud patriarch, peacefully entered eternal rest on March 28, 2025, at the age of 85.
Born on December 9, 1939, in Montgomery, Alabama, William was the beloved son of the late Reverend William Asberry and Lydia Roberson Asberry. He lived in Montgomery until the age of four, when the family relocated to Rochester, New York-a city he would call home for the rest of his life. William was one of six children and the only son. He was a proud graduate of Franklin High School.
In 1963, William answered the call to serve his country and joined the United States Army, serving with pride until 1969. In 1964, he married the love of his life, Jewel Simmons. Their union, rooted in faith and family, was blessed with three children.
William worked for many years at Rochester Products, where his strong work ethic and dedication earned the respect of all who worked alongside him. Outside of work, he found joy and peace in fishing with his grandchildren-one of his favorite pastimes.
A man of quiet strength and deep commitment, William gave his life to God and became a faithful member of Higher Heights Church of God, where he continued to grow in faith and fellowship. He was known for his steady presence, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for his family. As the patriarch of the close-knit Asberry family, his wisdom and warmth held generations together.
William was predeceased by his parents and four sisters: Juanita Murray, Katie Singletary, QueenEster Doty, and Michelle Asberry.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Jewel Asberry; his children: Stacey Boswell (Sydney), Adrian Asberry (Monique Taylor), and William Asberry III (Veronica); along with his beloved grandchildren: Bryce, Jordan, Jaylen, Jazmine, Jaream, Darius, Marcus, Davion, Kayla, and Amarion. He is also lovingly remembered by his great-grandchildren: Evelyn, Isabella, Charley, Bryson, and Amarice.
He is survived as well by his sister, Theresa Asberry Ward (Carl); his mother-in-law, Marie Young; brothers-in-law: Rollie Jordan (Marilyn) and Dennis Young; sisters-in-law: Willie Young and Leanarde Young; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and dear friends who will miss him deeply but carry his legacy forward.
William's life was marked by faith, family, and quiet strength. His presence will forever be felt in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
