William H. Ashworth Jr., age 70, of Clarks Summit, Pa., and former resident of Honesdale, Pa., died at home on Sept. 1, 2023, following a short illness. He was married to the former Frances Noto.
Bill was born May 3, 1953, in Binghamton, N.Y. during the time his family resided in New Milford, Pa. He was predeceased by his parents, Pennsylvania State Police Sergeant and Honesdale Police Commissioner William H. Ashworth and Vivian Knouse Ashworth.
He was a graduate of Honesdale High School class of 1971 and Keystone College in La Plume, Pa. He was currently an employee of the University of Scranton. He was a gentle, tranquil man who loved being with his immediate family and enjoyed keeping in touch with his extended family. He took pleasure in gardening, CB radios, tropical fish and walking his dogs with his grandson, Jackson.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Shannon (Jackson) Ashworth, and grandson, Jackson, of Chinchilla, Pa.; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie (Ashworth) and Eric Coronel, and grandchildren, Juliana and Connor, of Pottstown, Pa.; stepson and daughter-in-law, Richard and Stephanie (Campbell) Noto, and grandchildren, Leah and Tyler, of Dunmore, Pa.; a sister, Kay (Ashworth-Williams) Stephenson, of Hawley, Pa.; nieces and nephews.
To respect Bill's wishes, there will be no viewing or funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Twp., PA 18411.
