Your dear Mother often popped into the Village Clerk's office, just to visit. Your Dad was a frequent visitor, too, sharing complaints and "his wisdom". His obit spelled out some of his quirks that made me smile. We are thinking of each of you "kids" as you say goodbye to your Dad.
