William H. Barcliff II, born on March 22, 1952, in Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, in
Newport News, Virginia, at the age of 73. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
William spent his early years in Brooklyn, where he graduated from high school before pursuing higher education at Staten Island University. After completing his studies, he relocated to
Newport News, Virginia, where he lived with his cousin Herbert for some time, eventually making it his permanent home.
William spent sometime working in sanitation in New York before finding his joy in becoming a dedicated florist by trade, William worked in both Brooklyn and Newport News, a career that brought him immense joy and fulfillment. He found great pleasure in his work at various flower shops, where he formed lasting friendships with colleagues who supported him throughout his life, including Sunny and William, who were instrumental in helping him establish himself in his new community.
Outside of work, William cherished spending time with his two grandchildren, Gustavo and Regina, who brought immense joy to his life. He was an avid enthusiast of crossword puzzles, enjoyed the thrill of the racetrack, and frequently visited casinos, where he relished the excitement and camaraderie.
William is preceded in death by his parents, William H. Barcliff and Eartha Bell Barcliff, as well as his brothers Walter, James, and Christopher Barcliff. He leaves behind a loving family, including his sisters Betty Barcliff (Ujima) and Rebecca Barcliff (Pruitt), and brothers Lee, Robert, John H., and Tyrone Barcliff. His memory will also be cherished by his sisters-in-law Flora, Meryin, and Frelyn Barcliff, aunts Liza and Mary, sons William H. Barcliff III and Markie Barcliff, daughter-in-law Fallon Barcliff, and grandchildren Regina and Gustavo Barcliff. Additionally, he is survived by brothers-in-law Jeffrey Hoyte and Oba Gordon, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
