October 16, 1945 - May 2, 2024
William ("Bill") James Barry, Jr., 78 of Manchester, CT, died peacefully, at home, on Thursday, May 2, 2024.
He was born in Kent, CT on October 16, 1945, son of the late William James Barry Sr. and Molly Barry. After his graduation from Housatonic Valley Regional High School, Bill voluntarily and honorably served our country in the United States Air Force in the Vietnam War, serving on Shemya Island in the area of Cryptology (where he was awarded numerous medals, commendations, and a campaign ribbon). After his service, Bill received an Associate Degree in Computer Science from San Antonio College and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Hartford in Social Systems and Policy.
Bill was president and owner of B4 Group and worked as a consultant for several companies in information engineering. He was an innovative entrepreneur, pioneer in computer science, and was a published author in information engineering. Bill was a talented athlete, running in both the New York Marathon and Hartford Half Marathon and enjoyed mountain biking. He was an avid dog lover, had a deep appreciation of classic Rock and Roll music, and enjoyed working on his house. Most of all he loved his wife and children.
Survivors include his wife and best friend, Jean Barry, his son, Dr. William Barry II and Dr. Maria Barry, and his son, Gregory M. Barry, Esq and his wife Lynn Barry. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson, along with many nieces and nephews. He also would like recognized his sister-in-law, Patty McEnaney and her husband Jim McEnaney (deceased), and his brother-in-law Michael Tunney (deceased) and his wife Mary Tunney.
Funeral services and burial will be private at St. James Cemetery. Manchester Funeral Home, 142 East Center Street, Manchester, CT, are in charge of arrangements.

Missing my dear Dad and best friend. My Dad embodied Honor, Duty, and Courage in his life. He accomplished his duty on earth and now he is at peace with God. Thank you Dad.

The pain of not being able to talk with you each day is ineffable.

I will honor your sacrifice and care for family and the welfare of our country the best I can every day. Your memory lives within me.

This was our last photo together before God brought you home. I cherish our times together.

Love you always and unconditionally, Dad.
Billy
