William Beach Obituary

Published by Storke Funeral Home-Bowling Green Chapel on Dec. 18, 2014.
William (Bill) Beach Jr. left this life on December 18th, 2014 from medical complications during a courageous fight against brain cancer. He had turned 67 on December 10th. Bill was a Caroline County-based builder/developer from 1997 - 2012, providing homes for hundreds of families throughout Virginia and Maryland. He was on one of the original Business Advisory Boards in the county. He retired to Charlotte County in 2012 to pursue his dream of building life as a farmer. Born December 10th, 1947, Bill was a graduate of Bladensburg (MD) High School. He served on the military police detail in the U.S.Army from 1967 -1971 in Ethiopia and the U.S. And was a member of the Fredericksburg Police Department in the 1970's and 1980's. He was a commercial contractor for Long and Foster Inc. from 1986 -1994. Bill was generous to all he knew and to many he didn't know - providing extra coats for those who needed them, flights to freedom for refugees and an outstretched hand to friends and strangers. He had the ability to see the best in everyone and to help others develop their skills and talents. A father figure and mentor to many around him, Bill used daily life and business decisions as teaching moments. He provided his family with unshakable support, unconditional love, a can-do work ethic and strong principles for living. Bill served his Creator well and loved his family with undying devotion. Bill is survived by his wife Eileen and his children, Charity Pickett (Kevin Pickett), Elizabeth Ladd, Tyler Jones (Wendy Papula), Megan Jones (Adam Braun) and Bryn Jones (Melissa Jones). He also leaves four beloved grandchildren- Hailey, Kyleigh, and Ashlynn Ladd and Thomas Lamb, his parents William R. Beach Sr. and Virginia Beach, two sisters Dorothy Branscome (Jerry) and Becky Hicks and a brother Gary Beach (Jen). He will also be missed by his faithful German Shepherd Liesl. A viewing will be held at Storke Funeral Home in Bowling Green, Virginia on Friday December 26th from 7 - 9 PM. A funeral will be held Saturday, December 27th at 11:00 AM in the chapel of the funeral home, with burial to follow in Lakewood Cemetery. Bill, miss you even though it´s been 11 years. A friendship is not measured in years but rather the quality of that friendship. I knew from the day we met there was a connection; which even though you´re not here it´s still strong as ever. Rest in peace my friend. I just hope to God that we can get together once I´m called home. A big bear hug awaits you!

Spent my time in Ethiopia (US Army, Military Police Corps) with Bill and of course our other friend, Harold Felker. We earned the nickname The Three Muskateers because we constantly hung out together on our off time. We were rarely assigned patrols together cause our Sergeant erroneously thought we´d be goofing off. The opposite was true however; while we did enjoy our time off we took our jobs very seriously. Bill was just an honest to goodness down to earth guy whom I´d give the shirt off my back to if he needed it. Needless to say I was devastated over his passing and think of him and our friend Harold quite often. I am eternally grateful that I had the opportunity to know him and I hope to God we will meet up again. Rest in peace my good friend. I will never forget you

“Hey boy, get yourself outta that bunk bed! We’re going up to the Oasis club for breakfast!” Working different shifts every 6 days over in Africa would really do a job on your body and mind. But here comes Bill all full of vim and vigor. I think he would have made a good drill instructor in boot camp! Man how I miss you brother. Then Harold got up and left. Don’t be causing any trouble up there you two. HE will give you a good whoopin. Belated birthday wishes to you Bill . I know harolds is coming up in February. Anyway I thought I’d touch base and say hello. You are truly missed my friend. God bless,

William old buddy. Not a day passes that you are not in my thoughts. Our friendship was very special and lasted all through our years growing older. Why your life was cut short I do not understand. But your life lifted up so many of us just because of how you lived Your life: Positive, giving, encouraging, loving and with a can do spirit. Our time in Africa was special and I wish so many times we could do it again. I would serve alongside you again in a heartbeat. But I hope that we will meet once again and share old times. That would be a hoot. Say hello to Harold for me, miss you always my friend.

Missing my friend Bill. Memories galore of our time in Africa (U.S. Army Military Police Corps) which seems so long ago but yet like yesterday. With you and your family in our thoughts God bless you in eternity my friend.

I met Bill in Asmara Ethiopia in 1968...Serving as MP's in the Army Security Agency. It did not take long for us to develop a friendship that lasted throughout the years. We called each other frequently and kept in touch. One year he visited my family and I in Oregon and we had such a great time together...reminiscing about the "Old Times"...and talking about the present.
Bill would give his shirt off his back to help you, always checking to make sure you were OK...
I miss his "Hey Boy" when he would call... and the long talks we would have...
You are my friend Bill and always will be...your time was cut a little shorter than mine but in the end we'll be seeing each other again...
You will not be forgotten...

To my friend of 47 years and Army buddy I will always remember you as an uplifting, kind and generous person and family man. While separated by distance we always managed a few moments to chat. You were Bill a true friend but a friend to many others as well. You and your family will be eternally in my thoughts and heart. Love you buddy! Elliot
